I set up my Amcrest IP2M-841 to upload all video files to an FTP server, 24/7.
It works, but I noticed files before 2 days ago are gone from the FTP server. Does the Amcrest camera auto-delete old video files on its own? In Settings, System, Auto Maintain, I have "Auto Delete Old Files" unchecked, so is there another setting that deletes files from the FTP server?
I do not want it to delete anything, ever. I want to keep all video files forever. I will manage my own storage by deleting old files myself.
I am running the latest firmware as of this post: version "V2.420.AC00.18.R, Build Date: 2020-02-17", web version 3.2.1.619604
How to Keep Video Files Forever?
Re: How to Keep Video Files Forever?
Hello,
Well I just started to Hit Submit when I looked over your post to make sure I covered everything and all that I had written you know about lol...
So that leaves only 1 thing..
Did you do a Update to the NEW FW or was it loaded from owner before you? If you did the Update to the New FW did you do a Factory Reset after the fact.. If you didn't do a Factory Reset doing so should cure any and all old habits before the fw was updated..
If Auto Delete is off then there should be no reason for files to be missing unless you have something in your FTP server to keep files trimmed...

Be Safe.

Or you could go down the route of enabling auto delete and specify say 28 days then set yourself a reminder once every four weeks to move files to another folder.
This problem of files being incorrectly deleted when using FTP is an old one and I've never seen a definitive answer to it.
Just as a matter of interest, is your FTP server remote or are you using something like Filezilla on a local machine?

Re: How to Keep Video Files Forever?
Oh good idea. Will also try this, setting auto-delete to a high number of days.
Remote, server in a datacenter.
Re: How to Keep Video Files Forever?
So far so good. I did this, set storage auto-delete to 30 days, and it is keeping the camera videos on the FTP server for as long as I want them. I actually end up keeping about 18-20 days worth, and I wrote a program to auto-delete old videos when the disk nears full. I'm a software engineer.
