I found that all my IOS devices would not work with the setup procedure, simplest way i found , is if you have a laptop or desktop inset the supplied disc and us the camera Ip config tool the camera should be connected via ethernet cable for this to work, once your camera is found proceed to set it up by entering in the wireless key etc in the setup options of the browser window. once its wirelessly attached to your network you can use the IOS app to further tweak the camera settings. Dont forget to use the web interface correctly you'll need to download the plugin for Chrome, once the plug in is launched you'll need to enter in the address bar the ip address of the camera.anarchyx914 wrote:Hello,
I just got my Amcrest ProHD from amazon and I am at my witts end trying to make this thing work. I am very familiar with setting up network devices and using my router and I cannot seem to get my systems to connect to the administrative page for this device.
I have tried to connect via Wifi and P2P with the iPhone app and it never discovers the device after I enter my wifi settings. I tried a full reset of the device by holding the colored LED for 10 seconds and unplugging and retrying and had no luck there.
I proceeded to connect the device to my router directly w/ Ethernet next. I connected the device to my router directly with an ethernet cable and I verified the device was assigned an IP in my router panel so I downloaded the IPConfig tool from the Amcrest site and loaded it up. It detected the device just fine and matched the IP I saw in my router. I clicked the "E" to login and it doesn't load the page up, it just basically gives a page not found. I then proceeded to think that maybe I needed to open some ports on my router, so I opened up the 37777 TCP port and I also forwarded port 80 to 8088 thinking that was the issue because on the panel wasnt loading despite me having port 80 open. I rebooted my router and the changed saved and I verified the ports were open via a port scan, still I couldn't connect to the camera to view the login page for administration.
I have tried accessing the tool in several browsers and it never loads -- Safari, FF, Chrome, IE
I have no idea what to do from here, this is the most difficult plug and play device I have ever used. Any Suggestions, or does this need to be sent back to amazon?

You can set it up using your phone.Ok, so I figured it out. Seems the only way to connect through via IP address is when hardwired on Ethernet. At least now my device is updated, but how can I connect to the camera on my network through WiFi? Is that possible? Figure it's exactly like configuring a router through my network so...not sure why the IP times out
Download the amcrest view pro app from the app store. when you load it up you click on the 'manage devices' then you choose how you want to configure the device, for wifi or lan or p2p... choose wifi. It will ask you to name the camera, scan the QR code, then it will ask for a log in password, click next. the next page will ask you for your wifi log in info, router SSID and then password for the network, click next and let it do it's magic. Once you have done that try using the ip-config software and click on the on the right side. If using iOS it's best to DL the chrome extension.
hope that helps. I had view little issue configuring the camera with my brother in law at his house, where I opened the box and we played around with it. When I got home I was struggling to get it working, but by following the supplied instructions I figure it out pretty fast.
Always resort back to the basics. find the manual

There's a gotcha when doing the wifi setup using the Amcrest apps. If you have both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands in operation, it autofills in the wrong SSID. For some reason it picks the 5Ghz SSID even though the camera can't use it. I think that's why a lot of people have trouble with the wifi setup. It took me till the 2nd camera to spot it. So double check the SSID. Also, verify your HTTP ports. If uPnP is on find something that will scan the network for devices, it should report the port for each device. Each device needs its own HTTP port assigned.
For example LiveCams Pro for iOS now scans the network for uPnP Foscam and Amcrest cameras both when adding a device, which is nice.
And it probably goes without saying (which means I'll say it anyway) that if the setup is bad you may have trouble connecting to it too.

I am connecting thru wifi using Amcrest IP Config. I initially set up using wired as you have done.chasen54 wrote:Ok, so I figured it out. In setup/network/wifi tab see what network your camera is connected to if any. It could be connected to a neighbor's wifi network. If you double click on your desired network (those radio buttons on the left don't work) you will be prompted for the wifi pass-phrase. Enter that and click CONNECT then wait about 20 seconds then do a refresh. You should then see the camera connected to your network.
Now disconnect the wired cable and kill and restart Amcrest IP Config and see if the camera is found. I have found that Amcrest IP Config doesn't always recognize camera parameter changes unless it is stopped and restarted.
Maybe this will help.

I spent about 5 hours messing with this camera, and I finally figured out a few things:
1. Don't use DHCP on wireless. Instead, use Static and reserve the MAC address on your router. I am not sure why, but this camera freaks the f*** out when it is set to DHCP. Upon rebooting, the wireless was connecting but the camera was utterly inaccessible unless I plugged and unplugged the Ethernet.

Setting it to static for wireless magically fixed everything.
2. Do NOT disable Sub Stream. You NEED this for the phone app to work. Took me 2 hours to figure this one out.

if you have a dual band router issue... I don't know if this is how most routers are, assume they are... but mine has an SSID for each band of wifi. So I named the 2.4ghz band an SSID with a "24" at the end and the 5ghz band has a "5" on the end of the SSID.
