Hello,
I just got my Amcrest ProHD from amazon and I am at my witts end trying to make this thing work. I am very familiar with setting up network devices and using my router and I cannot seem to get my systems to connect to the administrative page for this device.
I have tried to connect via Wifi and P2P with the iPhone app and it never discovers the device after I enter my wifi settings. I tried a full reset of the device by holding the colored LED for 10 seconds and unplugging and retrying and had no luck there.
I proceeded to connect the device to my router directly w/ Ethernet next. I connected the device to my router directly with an ethernet cable and I verified the device was assigned an IP in my router panel so I downloaded the IPConfig tool from the Amcrest site and loaded it up. It detected the device just fine and matched the IP I saw in my router. I clicked the "E" to login and it doesn't load the page up, it just basically gives a page not found. I then proceeded to think that maybe I needed to open some ports on my router, so I opened up the 37777 TCP port and I also forwarded port 80 to 8088 thinking that was the issue because on the panel wasnt loading despite me having port 80 open. I rebooted my router and the changed saved and I verified the ports were open via a port scan, still I couldn't connect to the camera to view the login page for administration.
I have tried accessing the tool in several browsers and it never loads -- Safari, FF, Chrome, IE
I have no idea what to do from here, this is the most difficult plug and play device I have ever used. Any Suggestions, or does this need to be sent back to amazon?

A couple of things to check:
1. When you login and choose Network, then choose the TCP/IP menu, make sure to choose Ethernet Card = Wireless.
2. The port forwarding port in your router is the HTTP port. You will find the camera's HTTP port number in Network, Connection.
Hopefully that helps!

I cant even get a login page to pull up when visiting the direct IP of the camera.

OK, I'll back up a bit.
Did you download either the Amcrest View Lite or the Amcrest View Pro app onto your cell phone? If so, did you follow the instructions on page 13 of the user manual (that's the user manual, not the quick start guide) which connects the camera to your network?

I've been running into the exact issue discussed here. Can connect just fine via mobile and live web stream, but haven't been able to connect via IP Config for updating and direct network controls. I can see my camera in the IP Config tool, and I've tried in every browser, but the "Connection has Timed Out" displays in every one when I copy the IP in.
Any help or guidance would be great. Thanks!

Ok, so I figured it out. Seems the only way to connect through via IP address is when hardwired on Ethernet. At least now my device is updated, but how can I connect to the camera on my network through WiFi? Is that possible? Figure it's exactly like configuring a router through my network so...not sure why the IP times out

Just to be clear here with everyone is that I have given up on the mobile app for trying to connect. I am connecting directly into my asus router via hardwired ethernet. I also tried manually assigning an IP address to the camera thinking that maybe there was an IP conflict but that didnt work either. Simply nothing comes up when I visit the camera IP direct in my browser.

It is possible. Be aware that the IP address your device gets from an Ethernet connection will be different from the IP address obtained via Wifi, since each interface has a different MAC address. It is possible to have both Ethernet and WiFi connected and be able to reach the web interface with two different IP addresses. Make sure the device you are browsing with is on the same network subnet as the camera, unless you understand advanced networking.chasen54 wrote:Ok, so I figured it out. First of all, close those port forward ports! Those are settings to access your devices from the outside world, like from a friends house if you know your IP provided by your ISP.
Using your DHCP client list on your router or the IPConfig utility to find the camera's IP address, you should be accessing your cams like this:
http://<IP ADDRESS>:88
most of these cams are set that way from the factory.
If you are programming static IP within your network, be sure you are setting the netmask correctly--it makes a difference!
If your router supports "reserved addressing" I'd recommend using that to hand the static IP to the device...Long explanation, but worthwhile for some equipment.
Hope this helps.
