Converting to P2P for cameras IP2M, IP4M, and IP5M. (no access to QR codes)

Post by ReggieD »

Hello Amcrest,
I have the following cameras mounted in hard-to-reach locations in my home. Roof eaves, ceilings, etc...
IP2M-841-V3
IP4M-1024E
IP5M-B1186EW-28MM
IP5M-T1179EW-28MM
Recently Amcrest updated the Phone Apps. Some of my IP cameras no longer works when using phone data.
The only camera that works is connected via P2P.
I am old school so its new to me to convert the other cameras to P2P.
I cannot reach several cameras to get to the affixed QR code.
I do have the following information in a spreadsheet for all my cameras;
MAC Address
Device ID
DDNS
What can I do the convert to P2P for the cameras with no QR code access?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

As well as the information that you mention, no doubt you also have the IP address of each camera on your LAN together with the username and password. You should be able to access the WEBUI of each camera by entering the IP in the address bar of your web browser. You should then have access to the setup for that camera.

That sounds great. Yes, I do have the username, password, and IP address information for each camera.
I am guessing but once I get access to the camera's setup via the WEBUI, I will see buttons/selection to switch over from IP/Domain/DDNS mode to the new mode for P2P connection. It's been a while since I've mess with my camera setup. The updated AMCREST phone app is requiring this fix for my cameras to work remotely. To speed up my learning curve where I can find a video or instructions to make the change go smoothly. I do not want to crash my setup by deleting the wrong thing. I monitor my cameras on a local computer using Blue Iris. This change is for cellphone access using the AMCREST mobile phone app. I do not want to screw up the local computer connection.

Just a matter of enabling P2P. Typically once into the WEBUI go to the network settings-TCP/IP-P2P, enable it and complete the required parameters (I have to admit I've only ever accessed my cameras whilst I was connected to my network so never had need or used it.)

@ReggieD - How's that coming along?

I am new to P2P, and LOVE it now. Made connection safe and secure. I was going with port forwarding until another Mod here ( @Revo2Maxx ) set me straight on the security issues. The AVP2 viewer works very well on my phone.

I have a bit of a mixed bunch of cameras, so I just got a NVR (Amcrest NV4116e-A2) so I can connect to EVERYBODY that plays nice on the NVR, regardless of brand. Then access all via P2P from the NVR. :mrgreen:

I use BI at home also, but have had mixed to poor results with remote monitoring. With the P2P from the app to two cameras I was very happy with the performance. So much so I got the NVR, and more Amcrest cams coming.

Your dilemma of not having Camera info... I have been there. :lol: This setup, I am making a collection of a picture of EVERY cameras tag with the info and QR. I check them as I upload them from my phone to make sure they are legible to my eyes and an iPhone. I hope I never NEED them, but if I do it will be a welcome source of info.

Only on #10 now. It is absolutely miserable weather here today, so the outside cams are for a sunny day. :D

Thanks to reading your post, this is the CYA (CMA? :lol: ) folder I am making now for all the cams. ALL THE BEST with your system.
