Transfering NVR HDD

Post by erikkupr »

I have an Amcrest NVR 16 channel, just bought a 32 channel Amcrest NVR, can I transfer the HDDs from the 16 channels to the 32 channel NVR and still be able to play the recordings?

In most cases that would work. I have done it myself moving a HDD from my 42xx to my 5232E-16P NVR.. I was able to play back footage. However I didn't keep the data stored there as I wanted a fresh recording platform.. Don't know how old your NVR is that you are moving the HDD from. You will want to keep in mind that most of my HDD are lasting between 44k to 55k hours depending on what HDD I used. For me best hard drive has been the WD Purple and last the longest. That is about 6 years for 55k hours.. I would look at your current NVR and see if it has the data for your HDD on how long it has been going and see if it is still healthy. If there are any questions about health of the HDD then I would look at buying a new one. They are cheap enough these days.. Better be safe then sorry when it comes down to needing the footage..
Be Safe.
