What I meant is that "Wouldn't using the microSD solely for snapshots (and recording elsewhere) be a better method?

I am sorry, I have to answer a question w/a question: Would storing just snapshots (alarm triggered or timer based) in the SD card and record actual video footage elsewhere, like a Local HDD/NVR, FTP NAS or cloud storage?
