Re: Amcrest Surveillance Pro "Failed to open video!"
@Gecko: Longshot : https://djifix.live555.com/ When I am recording RSTP files to .MP4 (h264) if the file is not ended gracefully, it won't playback for some reason. Something about a ATOM data structure not being in the file. It's a real wonky encoding mechanism and the person that designed it like ...

Re: IP8M-2899EW-AI-V2 4k PTZ
Revo2Maxx I don't understand why the default behavior isn't: Day mode:Load Day Profile. Night Mode, Load Night Profile. Or at least have a HTTP API call where you can do that yourself. I do look at the center of an image and test for all grayscale to make certain that the camera has switch from nig...

IP8M-2899EW-AI-V2 4k PTZ
Hi All, Quick Review on the 4k PTZ (25x optical ) Amcrest camera. I'm in the early stages with this one. Supports H264/265 Sometimes the H264 recording hiccups: [h264 @ 0x770e401d7d00] error while decoding MB 35 96, bytestream -5 -Very impressed by it's Zoom Feature, was able to snag a licence plate...

Re: Best way to save an event?
@Revo2Maxx - I was very disenchanted by most NVR's. The more camera's you add, the more compression they put on the signal when saving. Viewing the feed LIVE looked great, but when you went to review it later, it totally sucked. They do not warn you of this beforehand either. It's criminal in of its...

Re: Help with some script for logging of events?
@Revo2Maxx Quickly looking at your code, seems as if you are reading from a ipcamera.log and wanting to extract/parse out certain events and put them into another alert pipe file? You could always create a python script to do this and create a cron job to run that python script at startup of the mac...

Maybe put a closer Wireless Access Point or use Ethernet over the AC Powerline Adapter?

Re: IP8M-2496E-V2 record and upload 1 minute of video every 5 minutes
Hi Bass, Python would be your best bet. You can use PyAV to lock onto the RTSP feed of the camera, and download a minute of video and audio on pretty much any computer/os you want. Usually the amcrest IP cameras will allow multiple connections to the h264 RTSP feed and it won't diminish the quality ...

Re: Solar Power Solution
Hi Tim, Haven't had much luck with WiFi cameras especially at great distances. To much interference. I tried even a long range WiFi device like the WavLink AX3000, but the RTSP didn't work right even on a 2k feed wifa camera. Got a 100 mbit speed test on my phone, but for some dum reason the Amcrest...

IP8M-VT2779E 4k/5x IP Zoom Camera is a Joke
Hi Amcrest, Totally love the price/performance of the IP8M-T2599EW-AI-V3, that team has 90% product less the Web API -- there are things that are missing/don't work. s Real Solid Feedback on IP8M-VT2779E w/ processor SSC328Q circa 2023 The on-board web software for zoom and autofocus was complete un...

Re: Open Letter to Amcrest Product Development
Hi Revo, I'll avoid the Smart Home Stuff, or it will end up in the land of the Misfit Toys. I've been working on a Linux - NVIDIA CUDA - PHP based detection system with Amcrest cameras. The NVIDIA CUDA makes real time frame over frame detection possible due to the 7000+ cores on the 4070 SUPER GPU t...
