Hi,
As a new user I've seen quite a few posts from people who have had issues with P2P and I know Amcrest have done some work on their side.
Can anyone confirm whether they can use the Amcrest View app outside of their network to view their camera and if so, did they have to make any changes? I can connect locally but not outside of my network.
Thanks,
Matt
External access - who has it working?
Re: External access - who has it working?
Do you mean through your phone or laptop? Or either??
Re: External access - who has it working?
As I said, the 'Amcrest View app outside of their network'. So basically, can you view your camera externally?
Re: External access - who has it working?
I had it working up until yesterday... I cannot figure out why, but I no longer can see any of my feeds on my phone...
It was working fine...
I could care less about the Amcrest View Pro app, but I have yet to spend the time to research how to get it working over on my IPCam View app, which I have grown fond of.

Re: External access - who has it working?
I set up DDNS and can view it from my laptop (via browser interface) externally. I cannot however view it from my phone which is much more convenient.
Re: External access - who has it working?
All is working for the past week or so. Outside the home network on my office computer, I phone or iPad. I use the apps on the phone and iPad and amcrest view on the computer.
Re: External access - who has it working?
So it sounds like it's working for some but not most.
Right now for instance, I'm in my house on my internal network. Via the Amcrest View app for the iPhone it doesn't work, 'Failed to Connect' - which uses P2P to connect. Using a 3rd party app (IP Cam Viewer for the iPhone) - which uses the internal IP address, it connects.
I don't mind so much if Amcrest are aware of a problem, acknowledge it and are in the process of fixing it. What I can't deal with is denial of any issue. Fortunately I only got mine during the w/e from Amazon so it's easy to send back, but I actually really like the hardware - so frustrating!
Thanks all,
Matt

Re: External access - who has it working?
Actually - Mpatto - did you change anything with your network to get it working (port forwarding etc, use of ddns etc.) - or did it just work out of the box?
Re: External access - who has it working?
Also, I spoke to their support earlier who said their P2P server was working fine - do any of you that have been using their cameras for longer than me agree with this? I'm still unable to connect outside of my network.
Re: External access - who has it working?
I actually had similar problems initially. I made a change about a week ago and it's been flawless from the Amcrest View Pro app ever since. The change I made on my internal router/gateway is that I made the IP addresses assigned to my cameras static. Prior to making this change I noticed that my cameras IP addresses would change and the local app on my laptop wouldn't find them anymore(as if they weren't online). And I couldn't connect via the View Pro app either. After making the IP addresses static(permanently assigned to the cameras) I have been able to connect from outside the house almost every time, within 5 seconds. Every so often I'll get the black screen with the circle spinning and then a connection failure, but usually a tap on the screen to try again establishes the connection and I'm in.... So I recommend trying the static IP, if you haven't already.
