So I love it when people talk crap about Amcrest when it comes down to the issue not being 100% something that could have been prevented seeing the system was working just fine until an update to something in peoples phones from or what ever device update was made that took out the working notices..
As one of the "talk crap" people here I agree with what you are saying to an extent. I have visited the forms here only a few times and when I have a problem. I personally don't feel inclined to post only to provide a status of everything is fine on my end. I personally don't feel like I'm positively contributing by doing this.
I wouldn't even have and Amcrest doorbell if I didn't hack together a replacement battery not too long ago. From the forum I learned these doorbells have a small battery in them to keep powered when the doorbell chimes. The battery in mine failed so when the doorbell would ring my doorbell wouldn't send a notification and it would cause it to reboot due to all the loss of power. Amcrest doesn't sell a replacement batteries and the best one I could find I ordered from AliExpress. The battery wasn't a perfect match so I needed to modify in order to install it. So I was without a doorbell that could ring for over a month and had to spend time researching and fixing it.
A couple weeks ago I stopped getting notifications. I thought it was due to switching phones and not setting something up initially. Between phones and tablets 6 different devices I wasn't receiving any notifications. I saw others on here were experiencing issues. I assumed it would be resolved pretty quickly. Unfortunately it was more than a few days. I'm that time I started to question if I wanted to continue to deal with issues. I did some research and due to other technology changes I made in my house I decided I personally wanted to move to a different device.
Though I only visited the forum when I had problems I appreciate that it exists. Without it I would have already had to replaced my device. I shared here that I was experiencing issues to reassure others they were not an isolated instance and there was something wrong. I also shared when it was working again to help those who were waiting.
On the more negative side (for amcrest) I shared that I decided to move on to a different device. Just in case I wasn't the only one losing trust in their product. I have had a handful of Amcrest cameras that treated me very well over 6 plus years. I'll probably continue using a few of them. I also appreciate the members sharing their experiences here as it was where I found a majority of the support I needed.
