The update to the app has been sent to both Apple and Google, Seeing there are things in place for all Apple apps to be approved or denied my guess is that it might take some time for the Apple software to hit the DL spot.. I was told a yesterday that it might take a few days for either platform and was happy to see that Play Store had it ready to go so fast.. It isn't that the software isn't there. It just isn't able to be DL until Apple accepts the app..

So again; any explanation about why your devices bricked for nearly a week right before Christmas? I mean; lesson learned on my behalf…. Glad that the only Amcrest devices I have (easily 15-20) at least use a different app since they’re read from NVRs.


Appears like someone didn’t pay their SSL renewal bill on time…

All these cameras that were bought for Christmas and we can’t even install them! Amcrest has been silent for days! That about says all you want to know about this company!!!

Really LOL. Why is it that Amcrest gets software out and then takes heat being held up in the Apple Store having to wait until it is approved for release.. Silent for days? Well lets see the SH product goes offline and they get 700+ tickets about the issue and in short order gets an updated app out for normal phones off the Google Play store and only hold up is Apple and what is there to know about Amcrest? They don't set the time it takes for apple to release..

Yeah really. What caused your software to brick? What caused every single user of your smart home software to lose access to their devices?

This is 1000% on Amcrest. The fact that it’s days later before getting any admission of your error
Isn’t a great look either.

The IOs load time is an effect of your errors; not the cause.

Can’t someone from Amcrest request an expedited resolution from Apple Store? PLEASE

Update from Amcrest Support.

Our R&D team is currently testing a new app update that we believe resolves the issue. Once testing is done we can submit it to the App Store for app processing/review.

This sounds like to me that havent even submitted a fix yet to the apple store. We are not waiting for Apple app approval. We are waiting for Amcrest to actually push a new app.

What in the world is taking so long!!!!!!

Yeah my guess is that is old news. It don't matter, A few days is better then being off for weeks or month.. There are ways to view local and have access to the cameras outside of the Smart Home App..

By the way I don't work for or at Amcrest. So I can only go by what is relayed to me.. 12/21 if you are talking about 2021 it would be different issues that was long solved.. IF you are talking 12/21/24 then being just 5 days old and 3 of them days Holiday and weekend when there is no support staff even in the office that would support this issue.

Then coming into the office to find out there is an issue, having to feild 700+ support tickets and to have a fix out in short time.. Sounds really good to me..

Taking so long.. 5 days ago, with 2 office days. Don't sound so long to me? Again even if they passed or didn't pass to Apple yet It always takes longer for Apps to get approved on Apple then it does for Google Play... Want someone to blame.. Go blame Apple for taking so long to process apps to the service. But remember it is to help keep thier apple products safe from things that could harm your phone.. So I blame no one as things just take time..

I work in the software field and know the process all too well, simply put if this happened at my current place of employment then we have hours not days to fix the issue. You can not sell a product that requires a app to setup/view while the app is down with no known ETA of when it will be fixed. I also don't work for Amcrest however I have many experiences with their products and know the following to be true.

All amcrest smart home products require the smart home app to setup a new device or set back up after a factory reset. The only way to view Smart home devices outside of the smart home app is to view via a NVR or add them manually once they are set up in the app. Take my case for example, I moved 4 cameras from one location to a new location this past Friday 12/20/2024 and know that the app would not let me set up new devices or view any current devices. I then proceeded to report the issue to Amcrest support and was told that they were aware of the outage and are still investigating(so who really knows how long this has been really going on) I've called, emailed numerous times and still haven't been given a ETA. I have also requested someone from management to call me back and that still hasn't occurred. Amcrest is open 7 days a week and even if you take out Christmas day, that is 6 days to get this resolved or at least put out a noticed to all clients of the outage. Instead Amcrest would rather people create ticket and respond with a scripted message that they are still researching. I don't blame Apple because Amcrest doesn't know how to keep up a quality app in the first place. Just do a quick google search and look at all the reviews to get sample of the continuous app problems. This is just my opinion but I feel YOU MUST TAKE your products down off of Amazon and the AMCREST website if the app required to use the product isn't currently working or at the very least let clients know when a maintenance message on your website or in the app.

Correct me if I am wrong but you can not setup a new smart home device or factory reset a current device and set up again without the Amcrest smart home app. It is true that if the devices are already set up you can added to the a NVR or add them into the Amcrest Smart home app with no issues. But again to use the doorbell camera in the correct way or setup a new device you are haulted with the latest issue with Amcrest Smart home.

I have personally setup 100's of these cameras over the past several years know the process in and out. As mentioned in earlier post, it sounds like a SSL issue however Amcrest will never own up to it. And if it is a SSL issue thats on the cloud AWS side and it doesnt take 5 plus days to resolve.

Phone support and USA TX in office support are 2 different things.. While yes the Phone support is open 7 days a week they are not the ones that are trained and put in place to work out the issues that is for support that is open M-F. So when the issue was first reported was either late Friday night and or early Sat Am there is no Support in the TX office. These people are also the ones that are tasked for Support Tickets. So that means Mon Am when support staff returned to work was when they found out there was an issue.. For Play Store users there was an update out in what I would call short order.. AKA the next day..
AS PER APPLE.. "App updates can sometimes take a while to appear on the Apple App Store because of the rigorous review process Apple employs to ensure app quality, which includes checking for security issues, compliance with guidelines, and appropriateness for users, which can lead to delays in posting updates, even if the review itself is relatively quick."

I am sorry personally I would not have installed 100 Smart Home devices using only an Apple device. I would have lost my mind many years ago.. I own my fair share SH devices and don't even look at them much using the app these days..

Related to issues that can happen, I wouldn't ever use just SH devices as my only form of Security Cameras.. Even the ones I own have a wired IP cameras facing the same area of interest.. That is just me.

Any camera that I have ever gifted to family or friends has been IP line of cameras for the simple fact I don't want these kind of issues to happen to them..

Not 100% it was SSL related. I mean app is being udpated not the firmware in the devices.. While it still could be what litlte I know about your feild last I knew SSL update would require device flash too I thought. Not just the app to server update? Seeing the FW is what deals with ability to recognize the new SSL cert? But I am a hardware guy I don't know..
