IP2M-863EW-AI-V2 Record Delay

Post by Volkemon »

Setting up my IP2M-863EW-AI-V2.

Setup>Event>Video Detection>Motion Detection

It gives me the option of a minimum of 10 second DELAY in recording?? Not Pre-record. Delay.

I want a 3-5 second pre-record. I used to set that up in BI, but my BI program bi the dust. So I am using the web interface on the camera.

I see no option for pre-record. Or even no delay.

I want to see them walk in the door, not start recording after they are gone. Walking normally, I can come in my front door, go down the hall and be out of the range of the inside front door cam WELL under 10 seconds. WTH will it record??

Surely I am mistaken. Been a 14 hr day, so far, so that is ENTIRELY possible. :? I have yet to actually record/playback anything on the NVR ( NV4116E-A2) , so not sure what if anything is getting captured.

Is there a way to set pre-record on the camera? Or even 0 delay?

Unless I am missing the meaning of "record delay" ...10 seconds is unacceptable. I cant imagine WHAT scenario would require a 5 MINUTE delay. (300 sec max)

I can think of PLENTY of scenarios where I want the 3 seconds BEFORE the event. But thats not an option. Nor is less than 10 seconds?!?!? :?:

Likewise with the alarm. 10 sec delay? :| Instant is more like it. I have to be overlooking something obvious.

TIA

So you will want to go and setup your Pre Record under Setup, Storage, Record Control.. In there you will have the ability to pick between 2 points. I don't know what it is for your cameras seeing they are different between cameras. Might be like 0-5 and might be other systems with longer times. Most times if I remember right they come standard setup for 4 seconds of Pre Record..

Delay is a miss use of the word.. Record delay means it will record for that set time.. So when an event happens that starts your timers Pre-Record let say 4 seconds and then the 10 seconds there would have a 14 second clip of the event..

Same with Alarm Relay out.. That is how long the Relay will latch for the alarm output. So the Delay is how long it will happen for not how long to delay before it happens..

WHEW!! The IP2M-843 has a range of 0-5 seconds, was at 5.

Delay is the WRONG word. :geek: Its close, but the correct word is Duration. I am used to people not knowing the meaning of the words they use.
I assume this is a translation issue. But now I know, and will have the insight in the future to think "Maybe the person writing/proofreading this speaks English as well as I speak Mandarin."

I am a seasoned citizen, and remember a day when you got a manual you could trust, not a 'quick start ' guide that is years old and not even written for the specific device. The 'Quick Start' guide with the -863 is so general as to be near damaging. 19 pages, with the last 4 being nothing but wire charts for power transmission loss. Right after the "THUNDERPROOF and Surge Protection". I live in the lightning capital of the USA. I cant say I have ever seen anything damaged by Thunder. I like Thunder. You hear it, means something ELSE got hit.

I know... some of you are seeing me in this..
