using the ip2m-841b out doors

I have 2 of these cams and would like to use one out doors. I know they are not rated for this but was wondering If I took proper measures to protect the ports if it would really be a problem.
I have a very well protected overhang on my garage that I could mount it to and can use good insulating tape to cover all the ports. The power plug would mount inside the garage.
Looking for solid reasons pro or con.

I have a Foscam indoor camera that has been outside for 2 years now.

I am using the same camera under an awning. Probably when it gets bitter cold I may need to bring it in. If the outdoor model had communication then I would use it.

I use mine outdoors (no direct moisture) in the pacific northwest. No issues and it gets down to about 15F during the winter here.
