Please allow the plus ("+") character in your e-mail addresses under the SMTP settings (I have an IP3M-943, if that matters).
Why does this matter? I use a Gmail account for motion detection events for my Amcrest and other cameras. I easily separate and categorize the e-mails from the D-link cameras I have by changing the "To" address of my motion detection e-mails using the plus sign, i.e. "[email protected]" vs "[email protected]". Both of those sample addresses go to the same "[email protected]", but Gmail lets me tack on whatever string I want after a plus sign for filtering purposes. It's really handy!
Anyway, the plus sign should be allowed in an e-mail address, as summarized here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Syntax
and detailed here:
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3696#page-5
Please enable plus ("+") character in e-mail address

+ should not be used for any email address. Just because google allows it MS does not.

+ should be allowed for any email address. Just because MS doesn't, doesn't mean that's correct.
(See how that works both ways?)
If it's in the RFC, why not support it?

Re: Please enable plus ("+") character in e-mail address
Who cares if Microsoft supports it or not? If Microsoft doesn't support it, why would I be entering that into my camera for a Microsoft account anyway? Wouldn't I automatically be entering the correct information into the camera, whatever it is?John94si wrote:+ should not be used for any email address. Just because google allows it MS does not.
Yes, please fix these unneeded limitations! I also had to change the email password on one of my IP cam email addresses because the new Amcrest camera wouldn't support the apostrophe character! All the other cameras on the account supported it fine. But I had to reconfigure them all because this one didn't.
Re: Please enable plus ("+") character in e-mail address
Totally second this request! I spent 30 minutes dealing with the SMTP setup screen not realizing the problem was Amcrest set the firmware /not/ to accept a plus sign (+) in email addresses. Check the spec! There's zero reason to block legitimate addresses that customers wish to use.
