night mode

In night mode, one of my cameras on my 960H system turns everything bright white and you can't see anything. What's wrong?

Is it the IR lighting coming on automatically? If it's looking out through a window then the glass reflects the lights back into the camera. I've switched the auto IR illumination off on my camera and I have to say I'm impressed just how good the picture is just using the outside street lighting.
