Re: PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
Happy to help! In terms of the reboot, I think it's just a cautious default, these things should be able to run for extended time periods (months to years) without requiring a reboot, they're not Windows boxes. In fact for the NVR, which from memory also rebooted at 2am or similar, I turned the rebo...

Re: PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
The situation in this case is a bit special, power outages here are virtually unheard of, there's a solar ESS providing power on the remote chance one does occur, and it's not being used for security but as a backup check on wild animals in an area covered by PIR sensors.

Re: PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
I'd tried that at one point but it didn't seem to fix the problem, and given the long turnaround time to test each config change since the problem only turned up after a day or so it was easier to just turn off the daily restart. Another reason to be unenthusiastic about daily reboots is that it was...

Re: PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
It looks like it's finally sorted, in its out-of-the-box/factory settings there's a setting in the System config to reboot at something like 4am. This presumably triggers a PTZ restart which leaves it pointing off into the weeds. Disabling the 4am reboot leaves it pointed to where it should be. So i...

Re: PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
I've now left it for 24 hours after confirming that there are no presets set in the camera: camera_1.png camera_2.png camera_3.png and it's still exhibiting the problem, at some point it moves the camera so that it's pointing into the weeds rather than where it should be looking. One thing I've foun...

Re: PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
This took awhile but it's definitely something the camera is doing, I've confirmed it both through the unplug suggestion (I decided to physically unplug it from the NVR rather than setting a bad password just in case I could never get it back again afterwards), two rounds of that and both times the ...

Re: PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
A bogus preset was my initial suspicion so I deleted them, or at least tried to but the software claimed there were none set, in which case I've now added preset #1 pointing out into the garden. Perhaps without any preset it goes to some initial position which leaves it pointing into a mass of folia...

PTZ Camera won't Maintain its Orientation
One of my cameras is an IP4M-S2112EW-AI hooked up to a 4xxx NVR which I have pointing at a particular section of the garden. Or at least that's what I set it to, however every time I go to check it it's rotated towards the right and pointing into some shrubs rather than capturing a view of the garde...

Re: HDD warning, now what?
I used an SSD because it produces close to zero heat (meaning it doesn't dump even more heat into an already hot-enough NVR enclosure) and no noise or vibration, and because I had one lying around. I'm only recording on motion detect which means it only gets a handful of writes every day. In particu...

HDD warning, now what?
I recently had to move the NVR, which involved removing power. On restart it started the dreaded HDD problem beep, presumably because it ran a fsck on power-up or something. I've disabled it as per Amcrest's instructions but this seems like a rather unsound way to deal with it. Obviously a lot of pe...
